Blood sugar tests

blood sugar test

A blood sugar test is performed to diagnose diabetes in adults, gestational diabetes, and diabetes in children. It is also carried out as a routine check-up of comprehensive periodic tests to monitor the balance of blood sugar levels.
Blood sugar tests may also indicate low sugar levels that lead to symptoms like heart palpitations, confusion, or loss of consciousness.

And some of the other tests that show the blood sugar level:
Ceruloplasmin test:
Ceruloplasmin is a sugary protein containing copper from the liver, which helps diagnose Wilson's disease, renal syndrome, and hepatitis.

Glucose tolerance test:
It is a very accurate blood sugar test for pregnant women.
The test is performed on multiple stages; before drinking a sugary drink, 60 minutes after, 120 minutes after, after 180 minutes after finishing that drink.

A blood sugar test is performed 8 hours after the last meal. The blood is drawn from the patient's finger or intravenously.

Homa IR test (Homeostatic Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance):  Insulin is the hormone responsible for balancing blood sugar by transporting glucose into cells and reducing blood glucose again. In this test, the level of insulin is examined in the blood. The patient prepares for this test by fasting for about 8 to 12 hours, and the blood sample is drawn intravenously.

Glucagon test:
Glucagon is the hormone responsible for producing blood sugar, so this analysis measures the rate of Glucagon in the blood.

A1C test:
Hemoglobin is a protein found in red blood cells that are associated with blood sugar, and these RBCs regenerate every three months, so this analysis aims to measure blood sugar over the last three months.

Ketone urine test:
Ketones are the chemicals produced from the liver when the body insufficiently produces insulin.

Glucose challenge test.
